The Kind Project
As I approached my 50th birthday, I wanted to mark it in a way that would celebrate this new phase of my life, and be an active contradiction to the stigma women experience as they get older. So I cut off my long brown hair and embraced the silver waiting for me beneath!
I then made fifty dolls, each one unique, to stand as symbols against the relentless critical attack aimed at the female form, for our age, size, shape or colour. Each doll is a reminder for us to always cherish and respect our own and each other bodies, a reminder to practice kindness.
All the dolls have my shorn curls on their heads. Except the last one – doll 50 – who is celebrating baldness!
All money raised from this project will go to FORWARD, a charity dedicated to supporting women having to face the harshest challenges and to ending the greatest crime committed against the female form - Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
You can make a donation and enter the raffle.
Every time £50 is raised in donations one lucky person will win a doll of their choice.
Or the dolls are for sale at a starting price of £40.
