Nature is at the heart of my creative practice. Inspired by the intricate forms, textures and patterns found in the botanical world, I create work that explores the relationship between natural structures, light and material.
Living and working in the Mendip Hills, I am drawn to capturing and preserving the delicate details of the natural world. Ferns and other plant forms often feature in my work, their structures becoming embedded within the materials and transformed, particularly through my most recent work – Stone & Light bowls.
Glass plays a central role in this exploration. Its ability to transmit and transform light brings an ever-changing quality to each piece, creating subtle interactions between transparency, shadow and form. Sustainability is fundamental to my practice. Through the reuse and reclamation of materials, I aim to minimise waste and embrace a more considered approach to making. This commitment extends from material choices to studio processes, including the use of solar energy to offset the firing of my kiln.
Through these processes, I create thoughtful, tactile works that celebrate the beauty of the natural world while reflecting the value of sustainability, craftsmanship and careful observation.
