Rebecca Pasco
From: 8th April 2022
Until: 14th May 2022 I studied Fine Art BA Hons at Bristol and then went on to complete a Post Graduate in Education and have been teaching for 35 years. I come from an artistic background, my late father was Ernest Pascoe, a well-known sculptor in the South West of England. He was commissioned to do bronzes of Presidents Kennedy and Nixon. He also did work for our Royal Family and the famous Madame Tussauds in London. He has permanent works in Bristol Museum and the Royal West of England Academy, where I also exhibited and sold much of my work for many years. My paintings are predominantly Still Life and Interiors and I occasionally paint water fronts. My work is in high colour, with a linear quality. I have always felt that all things are connected by an invisible tension between objects and I think this is reflected in my work. Some areas are ‘flattened’ whilst others create a feeling of three-dimensional space. One of my main influences is the great, late Patrick Heron, an extremely high-profile Cornish painter. He exhibited all over the world as well as here. I was fortunate enough to have Patrick as a close family friend and I would go and stay with him at his home in St Ives, Cornwall. I have many letters from him in which we discuss our latest projects and what we are trying to achieve. He often used the phrase “that magical place where colours meet.” He was a great supporter of my work and he kept one of my pictures in his studio. I am currently only painting, but I do printmaking and relief sculpture when I can. I hope you enjoy having a look at my work and decide to enrich your living space by purchasing my work!
