Life is full of fuss and complication, as an artist, I want to pare back the confusion and distraction to present the viewer with simple forms and colours and allow the them to develop the narrative for themselves. Simplicity is the keynote which I try to bear in mind when I set about a painting or drawing.
My paintings are predominantly of buildings, I love the strong shapes they make, especially in bright sunlight. Older buildings, have, like people, great character, personality and humour, which I try to explore in my paintings.
As a member of Clevedon Art Club I have exhibited at the Club’s Members and Open Exhibitions and at the Royal Bath & West Show and taken commissions for paintings of specific buildings.
As an entirely self-taught artist the journey of discovery has been interesting and surprising at times when things have not gone quite as planned!
