Trudie Hawkins - Artist and Creative Tutor
Trudie has been a Lecturer and freelance teacher in Art and Fashion for nearly thirty years, specializing in fashion illustration, drawing, painting, pastels and design, as well as art, fashion and design history. She is a practising artist and creative designer, specializing in drawing, painting, mixed media, constructed textiles and beadwork. Trudie works with a range of subjects, most specifically Portraiture, Still Life and abstract imagery. She is driven by colour, pattern, form and texture, preferably combined to develop experimental, unexpected outcomes. The majority of Trudie's work is produced utilising upcycled materials, canvasses and frames. She is keen to reuse and recycle whenever she is able Trudie also like to reference art and design from previous decades, she is particularly inspired by mid-20"' Century culture, in an iconic and ironic way. Trudie collects glass, art, fashion and books from the 1960s and 1970s, and this is often referenced in her work. Trudie's aim is to continue to push visual boundaries in her work. She hopes her work makes the viewer joyful and happy. |
