Jo Whiteland
Jo discovered her passion for batik whilst in Kota Baharu on the East coast of Malaysia & since then, she has developed her own style of batik. With inspiration ranging from the morning dog walks on Horfield Common to holidays around the British Coast & further afield. Working from her garden studio in North Bristol, creating vibrant, colourful batiks of the natural world & the creatures that inhabit it.
Her original batiks are created on white cotton lawn fabric using traditional wax pens & brushes. Applying the hot wax before painting on dyes to build up layers of intense colour. A final dip in the dye bath creates the crackle effect characteristic of batik. Jo's batik designs are available as original framed pictures, limited edition prints (framed or unframed), cards, lampshades and cushions.
