New at Studio 3 - Landscapes from a
100-year-old Panoram Kodak 4 D
I love the panoramic image format and enjoy learning how to get the best from this 100-year-old technology. Used to wonderful effect by the great Czech photographer Josef Sudek in the 1950s for his series of Prague city and its surroundings. I have long admired Sudek’s still-life work and have been inspired to try this panoramic format.
In this camera, the lens swings across the view and projects the image through a rectangular aperture onto a curved film surface (125mm radius). Each frame is 12 inches by 4 inches on single sheets of orthochromatic AGFA X-ray film (ISO100).
I make individual contact prints from the negatives onto vintage paper to achieve the aged look I am after.
Framed landscape views of Weston Super Mare, Clevedon, Bristol and South Wales are newly available this Spring in Studio 3.
